From Leaf to Powder: The Ultimate Guide to Professional Matcha Production Processes

The Art of Shading: Where Quality Begins

The journey of premium Matcha starts weeks before harvest. Tea bushes are covered with shading nets to reduce sunlight by up to 90%. This process boosts chlorophyll levels, giving the leaves their iconic emerald green color, and increases L-theanine, which provides Matcha’s characteristic "umami" flavor.

Steaming and De-enzyming

Once harvested, the fresh leaves must be steamed immediately. Unlike other teas that may be pan-fired, Matcha leaves are treated with high-temperature steam to stop oxidation. This step locks in the brilliant green hue and the nutritional profile of the leaf.

Cooling and Drying (Tencha Creation)

After steaming, the leaves pass through multi-stage cooling machines and large ovens. The goal is to dry the leaves thoroughly without rolling them, which preserves their flat structure. At this stage, the stems and veins are removed, leaving behind the pure leaf "meat" known as Tencha.

The Final Transformation: Precision Grinding

The most critical step in matcha production is grinding the Tencha into an ultra-fine powder. Historically, stone mills were used, but modern production demands higher efficiency without sacrificing quality. The fineness of the powder determines the Matcha’s "mouthfeel"—the finer the powder, the foamier and smoother the tea becomes.

Featured Technology: Deli Assistant High-Capacity Matcha Ball Mill

Powder Ball Mill

To achieve world-class Matcha quality, the grinding equipment must balance speed with temperature control and particle fineness. Our company offers an industry-leading Industrial Tea Ball Mill designed specifically for high-end Matcha production.

Why Choose Our Milling Solution?

  • Ultra-High Fineness: While standard grinders struggle with consistency, our ball mill achieves an exceptional 800-1200 mesh grinding effect. This results in a silky-smooth texture that dissolves instantly and creates a dense, lasting froth.

  • Massive Capacity: Built for industrial efficiency, our machines support large-batch processing, significantly increasing your daily output compared to traditional stone mills.

  • Temperature Controlled: Precision engineering ensures that the tea powder remains cool during the grinding process, preventing thermal degradation and preserving the Matcha's vibrant green color and delicate aroma.

  • Durable & Hygienic: Featuring high-grade materials (including options for natural granite or stainless steel components), our equipment meets strict food safety standards while ensuring long-term operational stability.

Specifications at a Glance:

  • Model Options: Ranging from the compact DL-6CYM-30 to the high-output DL-6CYM-110.

  • Power Efficiency: Optimized motors from 0.75kw to 4.0kw for various scale requirements.

  • Precision: Guaranteed particle size of ≤0.025mm for premium applications.
