Black Tea Brewing Method

2024-08-20 17:41:36

Brewing method of black tea:
Steps:

  1. Prepare tea sets: Select tea sets suitable for black tea, such as purple clay teapots, white porcelain gaiwan, glass tea sets. Clean the tea sets in advance to ensure no peculiar smell.
  2. Choose tea leaves: Select high-quality black tea varieties according to personal taste, like Lapsang Souchong, Keemun black tea, Yunnan black tea. Pay attention to the quality and freshness of tea leaves.
  3. Control water temperature: Boil water and let it cool to an appropriate temperature. Different black tea varieties have different requirements for water temperature. Generally, most black teas are brewed with water at about 90℃-95℃. For example, better-quality Lapsang Souchong can be brewed with boiling water at 100℃. Some high-grade and delicate famous teas use water at 80℃-85℃ to avoid damage to aroma and color from high temperature.
  4. Determine tea amount: Usually, for every 150 - 200 milliliters of water, put 3 - 5 grams of black tea or 1 - 2 bags of tea bags. If brewing with a teapot, measure tea according to the ratio of tea to water. Strip-shaped tea can be brewed 2 - 3 times. Broken tea or tea bags are brewed until the aroma and color disappear.
  5. Control brewing time: After pouring water, control brewing time according to tea concentration and personal taste. Generally, professional tea cans mark the concentration level of tea leaves (strength), divided into 1 - 4 levels. Level 1 is the weakest and level 4 is the strongest. Corresponding brewing times decrease from 2 minutes to 3 and a half minutes. For example, level 1 black tea may be brewed for about 2 minutes, and level 4 for about 3 and a half minutes. If unable to control accurately by time, judge by the color of the tea soup. Generally, the tea soup should be bright and clear, with gorgeous color and no turbidity.
  6. Pour and taste tea: Pour the brewed black tea into a cup. Choose a cup with a shallower bottom and wider mouth to fully enjoy the aroma and charming color of black tea. If drinking pure black tea, savor its natural color and original taste. If adding sugar, milk or lemon, add according to personal taste.
