Preventive Measures Against Freezing Damage In Tea Gardens

2022-01-03 13:17:53

Reasonable use of various tea garden cultivation and management techniques to promote the healthy growth of tea trees can improve the cold resistance of tea trees. When cold and frost damage occurs, the application of various anti-freezing measures has a certain effect on reducing and controlling the degree of cold and frost damage.

Measures to protect tea gardens against cold and frost damage.

①Deep plowing and cultivating soil. Reasonable deep ploughing to eliminate wet damage can promote the extension of fine roots to the lower layer of the soil to enhance cold resistance. Cultivating the soil can keep warm, it is also beneficial to reduce soil evaporation and preserve the soil moisture in the roots, so it has an anti-freezing effect.

② Cover in winter. The covering has three effects of windproof, heat preservation and shading. Covering tea bushes with straw or weeds is effective in preventing cold wind, but to prevent the cover from being too thick, it should be removed in time after the beginning of spring.

③ Fertilize the tea garden. In late autumn and early winter, the temperature drops rapidly, and the growth stop period of the above ground and underground parts of tea trees is earlier than that in the general tea area. Top dressing before spring and summer tea can be applied when the tea buds are sprouting to promote the growth of tea trees; top dressing in autumn should be controlled before and after the beginning of autumn.

④Tea garden irrigation. Irrigating enough water for overwintering and laying grass between rows is an effective anti-drought and anti-freeze technology. Irrigation at night or at night before frost occurs, its anti-frost effect can be maintained continuously for 2 to 3 nights, and the thermal efficiency can be increased by 2 to 3 ℃ on average.

⑤Pruning and picking. In high mountains or severe cold tea gardens, it is advisable to cultivate low tea canopy, adopt low pruning, and appropriately control the degree of pruning to thicken the green leaf layer of the canopy, which can reduce the attack of cold wind. In areas with severe freezing damage in winter and early spring, the pruning measures can be moved to spring when the temperature is stable and warmer, and the spring tea should be purchased. In general tea areas, the pruning time should be performed before the first frost when the tea trees are close to the dormant period. Our company provides tea garden pruning machines, timely pruning will help tea trees prevent freezing damage and facilitate the growth of tea trees.
